POSITION(S) ANNOUNCEMENT

By linking local individuals and communities with new ideas and technology, Winrock is increasing long-term productivity, equity, and responsible resource management to benefit the poor and disadvantaged of the world.

Winrock is currently seeking multiple Agronomy/Agriculture candidates for an upcoming five year USAID-funded agriculture and food security program in the Mid and Far West regions of Nepal.

Individuals with specific expertise in the following areas are invited to apply:

  • Agronomy (grain/pulses)
  • Seed sector
  • Horticulture
  • Agricultural marketing (including post-harvest and value-added strategies)

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement the agriculture component of the food security project. Work in close collaboration with the project team in the implementation of project activities that contribute to improved production and marketing of high-value vegetables and improved cropping cycles for rice, maize and pulses. Design and oversee innovative value chain activities and develop a detailed workplan to ensure program results are achieved. Maintain working relationships with Government and private sector counterparts.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Master’s degree in agriculture, agronomy or agribusiness. At least 10 years of experience designing and managing agriculture and food security activities, preferably in Nepal. Background and experience in high value vegetables, rice, maize and pulses is desirable. Experience working on donor-funded agriculture programs is strongly preferred. Must have demonstrated skills in managing staff, writing reports and managing a program budget.
