As part of its Public Policy Practice, Altai Consulting seeks skilled candidates for a position of Analyst within our Middle East and North Africa (MENA) team.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The consultant’s role will be to support social and economic studies, project evaluations and donor monitoring systems. This involves:

· Data analysis of large and complex datasets.

· Desk reviews about specific topics, processing and making sense of large numbers of sources and materials.

· Support to project management (minutes of meetings, factual reports, administrative tasks, event and travel logistics, organization of folders, GANTT charts, etc.).

· Participation in report writing.

· Quality control of survey data, GIS data, etc.

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN FROM THIS EXPERIENCE

· Immediate exposure to major development actors (World Bank, AFD, GIZ, UN agencies, etc.).

· Experience of different development topics (migration, private sector development, M&E, etc.).

· Hands-on MENA professional experience and travel.

· Opportunity to begin or rapidly improve Arabic language skills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· Native or professional level in English.

· Master’s degree from a top-ranking university or institution, in management, business, economics, statistics or other relevant subjects.

· Academic excellence.

· Ability to handle heavy workload, to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

· Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality deliverables such as datasets, data analysis, graphs, slide decks, reports.

· Familiarity with collective work solutions and processes, and proficiency with Microsoft Office (including advanced Excel and PowerPoint functions).

· Interest for, and (preferably) some professional experience in the MENA region.

· Interest in the field of international development and economic studies.

· Currently residing in or willing to relocate and travel within the MENA region (specific location to be discussed).

FURTHER ASSETS (not mandatory)

· Native or professional level in French.

· Knowledge of Arabic.

· Work experience in the MENA region.

· Proficiency with one or several quantitative analysis tools (Stata, R, SPSS, Python libraries, Power BI, etc.).

PROFILE

· Curious about socio-economic, developmental, humanitarian, and regional Middle East issues.

· Autonomous, self-starter, proactive, at ease in a small, flexible structure.

· Positive team player, able to propose ideas, accepting constructive criticism.

· Honest, dependable.

· Eager to accept the challenges of project delivery (due to time pressure, demanding clients and interlocutors, logistics of travels, etc.).

CONDITIONS

· This position is open to interns and fresh graduates, with corresponding compensation packages.

· This is a full-time, office-based position.

· If internship: 6 months with possibility of transition to annual contract depending on performance and company’s level of activity.

· If fresh graduate: renewable annual contract, trial period of three months.
