Job Description

TITLE: Therapist x 2

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Greece

LOCATION: Thessaloniki, Greece

CONTRACT LENGTH: 6 months

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

The role holders will have detailed understanding of RTI’s Child Safeguarding and protection Policy as they will be involved in programmes for children.

ROLE PURPOSE:

We are looking for two full therapists in Northern Greece.

The therapists (a psychologist, counsellor, psychotherapist or social worker, child specialist) will work with other members of the RTI team in providing psychosocial support to the more vulnerable individuals and families living in refugee camps in Northern Greece, as well as offering support to volunteers working with refugees.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Refugee Support:

· Attending camps and community shelters where Refugee Trauma Initiative operates to work directly with refugees: offering psychosocial support to the most vulnerable refugees (particularly children) on an individual, group and family basis.

· Developing and planning tailored programmes on what is observed from the field and after doing an assessment. Providing goals for the programme, method and activities.

· Adhering to referral system to ensure beneficiaries are able to receive appropriate and adequate support.

· Documenting the work that is being done for Monitoring and Evaluation and report-writing purposes.

Volunteer Support:

· Training and support of volunteers: working alongside other members of the RTI team who have primary responsibility for running debriefing sessions and providing trainings to volunteers on issues relevant to working with refugees, including the consequences of trauma, child protection, impact of migration and being a refugee on families and mind-body techniques

Liaison and collaboration:

· Attending team meetings and mental health meetings within the team to discuss the work, the progress, difficulties, challenges, and how to develop our psychosocial support work in the field.

· Attending meetings with our partners in the field to discuss follow ups.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

· Qualification as a mental health professional (psychologist, psychotherapist, social worker, family therapist or counsellor)

· Fluent in Arabic and English

· Experience in working with trauma, loss, refugees and/or other vulnerable groups of people

· Experience of cross-cultural work

· Ability to be flexible and work in a fluid context

· Capacity to use one’s own initiative and to work collaboratively with others

· Readiness to reflect on personal-professional resonances

· Driver’s license

· Clear police record and if based in UK, DBS certificate (the latter will not preclude you)
