About Accelerating Support to Advanced Capacity advisors and local partners (ASAP)
ASAP is funded through an IDIQ led by IntraHealth and partnering with Pact. The total price of this Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee/Completion Contract inclusive of fee is $38.5 million. The purpose of the contract is to rapidly prepare Capacity advisors and local partners to have the capabilities and resources to serve as Prime Partners for USAID/U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) programming, in compliance with USAID and PEPFAR procedures, for PEPFAR program implementation in FY20 and FY21. This is Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee/Completion Contract. Missions will buy into ASAP to provide selected capacity advisors and local partners with TA related to ASAP strategic objectives around financial management, compliance, and PEPFAR performance
Summary of Job
ASAP is seeking qualified and experienced Communications and Graphics Specialist. The incumbent will help produce and distribute original content and provide capacity building support to Local Implementing Partners (LIPs) and their staff with communications and graphics in Africa. The candidate will provide technical guidance to LIPs for them to develop and implement communication and documentation strategies. The individual will focus on the strategic planning, production, and distribution of communications as well as develop creative content for print, web, and social media. The selected person will also oversee communications projects, including making decisions about content format and placement, assigning components to creative team members and managing projects from start to completion with a responsibility for meeting objectives and deadlines.
This position will be based in Washington, D.C. and is open to a U.S. remote location
Scope of Work
Documentation
- Coordinate with the program team to produce project success stories, lessons learned, fact sheets, news briefs, and blogs and disseminate through appropriate communication channels
- Identify, select and produce content and communications that demonstrate ASAPs strategic objectives and USAID vision and values, customizing content as needed to best resonate with various audience groups
- Write press releases and articles to support ASAP’s external communications
- Provide TA in establishing system for documentation and dissemination of program implementation success stories, lessons learned and challenges
- Assist in developing, managing and maintaining project page on SharePoint or similar platform so that information and data are accessible to employees
Formatting, Graphics, & Multimedia
- Plan and produce basic graphics and videos as needed to communicate ASAP’s messages in rich media and engaging formats
- Design templates, edit and format reports and project publications
Communications planning
- Provide strategic and technical guidance to LIPs in the development and implementation of communication and documentation policy and strategy
- Develop/adapt documentation and communication guidelines, tools and training materials and support LIPs in implementation and proper utilization
Capacity Building & Engagement
- Provide training/orientation to LIPs on USAID branding and marking guidelines to ensure compliance when developing and disseminating project publications
- Create user polls, virtual events, user-generated content opportunities and other methods to strategically foster two-way or multi-directional communication internally
Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelors’ Degree plus six (6) years’ of experience or a Masters’ Degree plus three (3) years’ of experience in Communications or related fields of relevant experience with two years of knowledge management experience.
- Experience with USAID/Global Health and PEPFAR and knowledge of the USAID/GH community and including interview questions about what avenues they would target in their dissemination strategies.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of graphic design production technique. Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud programs including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Proficient with SharePoint and Office 365 applications as a Content Management System (CMS), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Skype and Microsoft Teams.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge in writing, corporate communications, and digital publishing with at least an intermediate understanding of multimedia content forms (e.g., graphics, video, audio, etc.)
- Familiarity with intranet design; content and graphic posting, email newsletter publishing platforms such as MailChimp, Bananatag, etc.
- Creative, artistic, and critical thinking skills with knowledge of layout/visual composition, typography, and color theory
- Ability to plan and manage projects, provide direction to others and ensure on-time completion to meet key project or organizational objectives
