CARE seeks an Assistant Country Director – Program (ACD-P) to provide strategic leadership to drive program quality, as well as to develop, implement and scale up CARE Sudan’s humanitarian and development portfolio.
The successful candidate will be a strong technical leader, have solid program management capabilities and effective resource mobilization skills, to ensure the CARE Sudan office has a robust and diverse donor funding base and programs that meet or exceed Program quality and accountability standards.
The ACD-P is responsible for development of program strategies appropriate for the Sudan context and environment, which is associated with chronic poverty, emergency humanitarian needs as well as transition to recovery and resilience building. S/he manages a team of professionals focused on the design, funding, development, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects. S/he must also ensure that systems, policies, procedures, and people are in place to ensure the proper management and implementation of the programs.
The development, testing and implementation of new innovative program approaches, aligned with the context of Sudan will be a priority for the ACD-P.
S/he is a key member of the Country Office (CO) Leadership team, and as such is responsible for leading and supporting CO initiatives. S/he is responsible for (along with CD) maintaining good working relationships with host country officials, donors, peer agencies and other partners. S/he may be required to be Acting Country Director (CD), when the CD is out of the country.

- Five (5) years’ experience in senior management and leadership positions in humanitarian and development programs.
- Strong background and extensive experience in emergency humanitarian and development programming
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in relevant field
- Arabic language fluency is desired
