As an impact investing network, GIIN manages multiple communities of practitioners committed to using their investment capital to solve social and environmental problems. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is transferring the Operating Principles for Impact Management to the GIIN, and the GIIN seeks an Associate for the team to collaborate with the program lead.

The Operating Principles for Impact Management (‘Impact Principles’) were launched April 12, 2019. The Impact Principles provide a framework for investors to ensure they incorporate impact throughout the life of an investment. They have more than 160 Signatories from 38 countries, and continue to grow.

The Associate will execute the build-out and infrastructure development plan to transition the Principles into the GIIN, and provide day-to-day operational, administrative, and programmatic support. The Associate will also support program leadership in developing multi-year program plans and budgets, and designing systems and operational infrastructure, developing, over time, a valuable skillset for nonprofit administration.

Duties and Responsibilities

Signatory Engagement

  • Read and analyze annual Signatory Disclosure statements to identify and surface patterns and trends to support Signatory engagement, program planning, and GIIN market insights; translate these to analytics and periodic reports for program management as needed
  • Interface with Signatories as needed to support programming and organizational goals
  • Support the head of Secretariat in building relationships with new Signatories and supporting them in navigating the GIIN, as needed
  • Conduct desk research as needed to support content development; research impact investing organizations, social media, and the internet to source publications, databases, and other relevant information to support Signatory engagement
  • Interface with GIIN programs to integrate content and learnings for programming as needed
  • Support the head of Secretariat in recruiting new investors to the community, including conducting research, preparing materials, creating targeted information, and being equipped to address questions
  • Provide logistical and content development support for at least two Signatory workshops annually and Advisory Board convenings; produce participant materials for in-person and virtual convenings as directed

Program Infrastructure Development and Rollout

  • Design, with input from internal stakeholders, coordinate the buildout of, and then operate internal infrastructure to support program administration, such as processing registrations, on-boarding, and managing the documentation and reporting flow from investors
  • Interview and collect design requirements from program leadership and other GIIN staff to inform the design of a Salesforce process for Signatory management, collaborate with GIIN IT for implementation, and implement against this process
  • Support and drive all aspects of Signatory records/data management and improve upon processes as needed
  • Help re-engineer or optimize business processes and systems to meet the needs of a growing Signatory base
  • Assist the head of Secretariat to ensure a timely response to all inquiries, manage internal and external communications, outreach to investors and the Advisory Board
  • Track and prepare periodic reports on the Signatory engagement and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)
  • With the Finance team, support the invoicing process for Signatory fees

Marketing and communications

  • Collect inputs for the Principles website and work with the GIIN Communications Team to ensure website is kept up to date
  • As needed, create and post content to the Principle’s social media accounts, in collaboration with GIIN Communications team

Program Administration

  • Support head of Secretariat in synthesizing program goals and registrations to prepare an annual budget
  • Work closely with the head of Secretariat to translate investor feedback, program goals, and internal stakeholder requirements into a multi-year plan for the Secretariat


Location

This position will be based in our New York City office with significant remote work flexibility offered through the GIIN’s hybrid in-person/remote work model.


Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously; Ability to implement complex projects from start to finish in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan and execute on projects to build infrastructure for a new and growing program
  • A proactive approach to identifying and solving problems, as well as timely communication to relevant internal stakeholders
  • Team-orientation, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently, and with a diverse community of Signatories
  • Excellent written communications skills, including the ability to synthesize and effectively communicate complex ideas, and the ability to adapt writing style to audience and context
  • Highly creative with a passion and interest in systems-building
  • Genuine curiosity and a strong learning orientation
  • Interest in developing nonprofit program management skills is a plus
  • Interest or experience in impact investing and/or social and environmental issues
  • Personable, engaging, and professional presence with diplomacy, tact, and good humor

Other requirements:

  • Two or three years’ work experience demonstrating exceptional administrative, organizational, and/or event planning abilities
  • Experience with and/or aptitude for technology solutions and databases, such as Salesforce, Slack, Asana, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, MailChimp, etc.
  • Working knowledge of computer software applications, such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Bachelor’s degree required
