Project Overview:

The PLF works with DFAT and DEWR to support the administration of the PALM scheme and facilitate opportunities for Australian employers to connect with workers from the Pacific and Timor-Leste. The PLF is managed by Palladium and has been established as a trusted intermediary in supporting Australia-Pacific circular labour mobility.

Role Overview:

The Assurance and Compliance Officer will provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders on workplace legislative requirements to assist stakeholders to mee the requirements of the PALM Deed of Agreement. By undertaking a schedule of risk-based monitoring and assurance activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and education to stakeholders on workplace legislative requirements such as Fair Work Act and WHS legislation.
  • Develop a strong technical understanding of the Deed of Agreement and Approved Employer Guidelines to monitor compliance to, and provide education of, to stakeholders.
  • Undertake a schedule of risk-based monitoring activities such as Approved Employer desktop monitoring reports, monitoring site visits and conduct investigations where necessary, including worker accommodation where necessary.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with DFAT and relevant stakeholders and make referrals to other program stakeholders such as Fair Work Ombudsman and Department of Home Affairs.
  • Complete detailed and complex investigations, report writing and drafting of notices.
  • Provide initial management of first level complaints and grievances.

    Required Qualifications:
  • Qualifications and / or minimum 5 years’ experience in a relevant discipline such as risk management, project management, governance, quality management or Human Resources / Industrial Relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, assurance, and governance practices, preferably within a corporate, government or program management environment.
  • Technical knowledge and application of Australian workplace legislative requirements such as health and safety legislation, Fair Work Act, and industrial relations matters such as performance management, compliance to Awards and EBAs and HR processes.
  • Highly developed communication skills with a solution focused approach and the ability to manage change in a fast and productive manner.
  • Highly developed written skills and strong analytical skills with high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract to 30 June 2023 with a possibility of extension.
You are required to have valid Australian work rights to be considered for this position - visa sponsorship is not available.
This is a Brisbane based role with opportunities for hybrid working conditions.
