Australia Assists is an Australian Government program that deploys skilled humanitarian specialists to support multilateral agencies, governments, civil society and communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and conflict. Australia Assists’ Goal is to: Save lives, alleviate suffering, and maintain human dignity during and in the aftermath of conflict, disasters and other humanitarian crises, and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situations. The program’s Objective is: Targeted deployment of humanitarian expertise that meets the priorities and needs of Australia’s multilateral, bilateral and civil society partners and advances Australia’s international humanitarian priorities.

The Opportunity:

  • Based in Port Vila, Vanuatu
  • Open to national and international candidates
  • Duration: 12 months from start

The Role:

The role will provide technical and operational support to NDMO for LMIS implementation, serving as a liaison between stakeholders, supporting system validation, and embedding LMIS workflows into SOPs and training. The role ensures localisation, governance, and capacity strengthening for long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve in the LMIS Technical Working Group, supporting tender, roll-out, and implementation in coordination with SPC and WFP.
  • Validate workflows, manage data migration, and conduct user acceptance testing.
  • Facilitate communication between NDMO focal points, SPC PHWP, vendor teams, and WFP MCO.
  • Support embedding LMIS-enabled workflows (RFA approvals, stock reporting, dispatch tracking) into SOPs and training curricula.
  • Organize pilot testing with sample stock data to validate system functionality.
  • Document governance arrangements, localisation milestones, and stakeholder engagement protocols.

Selection Criteria

  • University degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 to 9 years of experience in humanitarian logistics or supply chain operations.
  • Proven experience in implementing or supporting digital systems (e.g., LMIS, ERP) in emergency or government contexts.
  • Hands-on experience in logistics information systems implementation.
  • Supporting procurement and vendor management processes.
  • Training and mentoring national counterparts on digital tools.
  • Familiarity with Vanuatu’s disaster management structures and Pacific humanitarian logistics, desirable
  • Commitment to capacity building and localisation principles.
