Role definition
Role purpose
The British Church Relations Officer works with other colleagues to ensure that Christian Aid is engaging effectively and creatively with British churches and church leaders.
Key outcomes
- Work with the British Church Relations Managers to build relationships with key denominations, networks and church leaders
- Carry out quality engagements across give, act and pray to make sure we deliver our fundraising and church engagement plans
- Increased amplification of the prophetic voices of the church and Christian Aid on behalf of the poor and in pursuit of justice, equality and dignity
- Increasing and emphasising theological, clergy and congregations’ awareness of God’s ambition for the poor and marginalised and the way his love is demonstrated by the Church
- Successful delivery of key appeals such as Commitment for Life, ensuring that relevant resources and expectations are delivered and met
- Christian Aid colleagues are supported in engagement with churches through the dissemination of insight and advice on trends within the UK church
Person specification
Applied skills/knowledge and expertise
Essential
- Experience of working with and developing relationships with a wide range of British churches, leaders, ecumenical movements and church-goers
- Excellent presentation skills and experience of speaking to a diverse audience
- Self-motivated and willing to work independently
- Experience of events and/or project management
Desirable
- Graduate or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
- Experience of working with volunteers
- Previous fundraising, campaigning and events experience
