The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its EIB Global Directorate (GLO) – Partnerships for Impact Department (PFI) – Strategy & Business Development Division (SBD) - Business Development & Planning Unit (BDP), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September 2025)

Objective of the traineeship

The Department is responsible for all Partnership related activities of EIB Global, including but not limited to mandates with the European Commission, Member States or third parties (including the World Bank), but also strategic analysis, policy coordination and business planning of EIB Global.

You will contribute to activities related to regular monitoring and planning of EIB Global’s business delivery, which involves data manipulation, analysis and reporting. You will also coordinate with internal and external stakeholders during the development and implementation cycle of the EIB Global operations - including operations under mandates.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit and the senior colleagues, you will actively participate in the Unit’s core activities. Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Work on data extraction and analysis
  • Produce timely and in a professional manner reporting which will be shared with external stakeholders;
  • Preparation of briefings/presentations, with graphs and charts, and other ad-hoc tasks and requests by Management;
  • Support the monitoring of the business plan in terms of signatures and disbursements across EIB Global geographies, namely Enlargement and Neighborhood Countries, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and Asia and Pacific.
Academic qualifications and professional skills
  • Final year of studies or University degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or in a related field.
  • A first experience and/or understanding or interest in development and climate finance will be considered as an advantage
  • Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
