Introduction and background
- Context: The Business Development Specialist (BDS) will support McKing’s
local implementing partner which is a non-profit organization, locally established and operatinng in
South Sudan.
- Purpose of the BDS: To secure
funding and partnerships to support McKing’s partner’s mission. This
involves identifying funding opportunities, developing proposals, building
relationships with donors, and supporting the organization’s overall
fundraising strategy.Ensuring the NGO has the resources needed to achieve
its objectives.
Objectives
- Develop and implement a business development strategy aligned with
the local organization’s mission.
- Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors and partners.
- Increase the NGO’s visibility and impact.
Scope of work: Responsibilities
- Researching and identifying potential funding sources (grants,
contracts, individual giving, etc.).
- Developing high-quality proposals and concept notes.
- Managing the grant application process from start to finish.
- Building and maintaining relationships with current and prospective
donors.
- Providing technical assistance to program staff on fundraising and
business development.
- Conducting research and analysis to identify new opportunities.
- Developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies.
- Contributing to the development of the partners fundraising plan.
- Participate in key in-country and international (online) meetings
for potential partnership.
Required qualifications
- Education: A Master’s
degree (MBA or related) in business, marketing, or a related field is
required
- Experience: Proven
experience in business development preferably with non-profit
organizations is essential, along with strong communication, negotiation,
and relationship-building skills, and donor experience.
- Skills:
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Proven track record of successful fundraising.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building
skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other
relevant software.
- Knowledge of the NGO sector and donor landscape.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a
team.
