JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing the technical narrative for public and private sector concept papers and responses to requests for proposals or requests for information. Also responsible for managing the proposal development process to ensure a smooth interdepartmental process that aligns with internal SOPs. Ensures that the proposal development is proactive and anticipatory through supporting proposal capture efforts; researching, identifying, and conducting outreach to new donors and partner organizations; and supporting stewardship of existing donors and partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Responsible for overall proposal team and process management for assigned bids to develop a responsive and competitive proposal by the deadline, working closely with country and global staff from the capture phase all the way through to submission.

· Serve as lead writer for the technical narrative of priority concept notes and proposals.

· Conduct partner outreach and lead partnership calls for upcoming and live bids.

· Serve as BD country focal point for 2-3 EngenderHealth country offices to support their ongoing business development needs, including, but not limited to, proposal management and writing, support in the development and implementation of annual country resource mobilization plans, and guidance and support on partner and donor engagement.

· Expand the capabilities of EngenderHealth staff to participate in technical and cost proposals and other business development efforts through mentoring and direct training.

· Collaborate with senior management to identify and strategize on new business opportunities.

· Liaise with current and prospective partner organizations and identify areas of potential collaboration; support the development of, and lead the writing for, concept notes for potential collaborative projects.

· Be aware of priorities of key donors as they relate to EngenderHealth’s areas of intervention and clearly communicate these priorities to country and global staff.

· Keep abreast of the international public health best practices in EngenderHealth’s three core impact areas (sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender & gender-based violence, maternal health).

REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess the following requirements with or without a reasonable accommodation.

· Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, international development).

· Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience, including resource mobilization / business development experience at an international development or global health organization.

· Proven successful proposal writing and management skills, including experience working on USAID, FCDO, and/or large foundation bids.

· Technical knowledge or exposure to sexual and reproductive health (family planning, maternal health, gender-based violence) and rights.

· Subject matter expertise of the donor programmatic and procurement environment of public sector donors (e.g., USAID, FCDO, Dutch, GAC, SIDA) and/or private foundations (e.g., Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation).

· Excellent partnering and relationship building skills, externally and internally.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Persuasive communication skills to motivate peers and colleagues to develop consensus building, especially for approvals, reviews and feedback resulting in high performing projects.

PREFERRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS:

· Fluency in French preferred (written and oral language).

· Experience living and working with feet on the ground in other countries.

· Experience relationship building across the board (countries, teams, departments, etc.).

· Ability to travel internationally and domestically, as needed.
