Medical Doctor and Team Leader - Belgrade, Serbia

Job Description

Devex is currently assisting a leading health management firm in its search for a Medical Doctor and Team Leader whose main responsibilities are:

- To support the government of Serbia to operationalise the national legislation and Action Plan aimed at providing palliative care to all persons and families in need.

- To provide technical assistance fostering European added value so that basic training and education in the principles and practice of palliative care is ensured.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Medicine, Ph.D;
• Relevant experience of at least 15 years of work in health care;
• Relevant international experience of at least 5 years in project management in health or social sector;
• Relevant experience of at least 10 years of work connected with palliative care (care focused on reducing disease symptoms, and less focused on halting or reversing the progression of the disease);
• Experience in the promotion of palliative care concepts and practice;
• Track record experience with sector analysis, institutional capacity building and planning for human resources in the health sector;
• Professional experience in drafting evidence-based guidelines;
• Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential;
• Serbo-Croatian / Slovenian language skills would be an advantage.

Position Details:

This is a full time 3-year contract position with 90 days at home that will be based in Belgrade, Serbia. The desired starting date for this position will be on the second half of January 2011.
