Call for National Consultants – Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Builders in Africa

Location: Flexible within Africa

Boost Africa Technical Assistance Facility

Adam Smith Europe is running the Boost Africa Technical Assistance Facility, a five-year programme, financed by the European Investment Bank.

Boost Africa TAF seeks to strengthen the core professional and operational skills, networks, and scalability of African venture capital funds and their investee enterprises. Our value proposition to upskill the management teams and stimulate the growth of the beneficiary companies consists of access to core skills training, one-to-one mentoring, and bespoke support.

Background

Our team will design 6-monthly TA cycles to boost the businesses. The first implementation phase begins in July 2021.

To prepare for this next phase, we are conducting a general call for consultants with relevant profiles interested in short-term consultancy assignments to support the funds and the investee companies

Requirements

  • Track record of supporting either venture capital funds or start-ups in Africa
  • We prioritise consultants based in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in East and West Africa.
  • Proven experience facilitating workshops, mentoring or delivering training sessions to SMEs/start-ups
  • Specific knowledge of, at least, one of the following areas:

o Accounting, administration and finance

o Corporate law

o Taxation

o Talent Management

o Capital raising

o Mergers & acquisitions

o LP engagement

o Pipeline generation, due diligence, and deal structure

o Financial modelling

o ESG & Impact measurement

o Post investment and exits

o Application development (Coding/programming)

o Digital marketing and customer acquisition
