Project Description
RTI is preparing for an anticipated solicitation for the follow-on to the USAID Wildlife Asia (UWA) and USAID Reducing Demand for Wildlife (RDW) Activities, funded by the United States Agency for International Development’s Regional Development Mission for Asia (USAID RDMA) to combat illegal transnational wildlife trade in Southeast Asia and China. The Activity will likely focus on reducing demand for wildlife and wildlife products through social and behavior change communication (SBCC) campaigns; reducing supply of wildlife and wildlife products through rational, comprehensive regulatory enforcement systems; and strengthening and harmonizing regional legal and policy frameworks through effective institutional coordination and collaboration mechanisms and information sharing platforms. . The geographic scope of the anticipated Activity will likely include?ASEAN with a focus on lower Mekong sub-region (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam), and China.
Position Description
RTI is currently seeking mid-level and senior professionals with expertise in wildlife crime law enforcement , the development of national and regional legal and policy frameworks, ASEAN and UN engagement, private sector engagement, coordinating global and regional networks , engaging and supporting civil society organizations, local community and grassroots building, social inclusion activities (e.g., women, youth, indigenous populations, etc.) within the context of the illegal wildlife trade and CWT within ASEAN, China and beyond .

RTI is seeking experts to fill the current potential positions:
Countering Wildlife Trafficking Specialist with a legal and policy understanding of ASEAN structures and context including the challenges of cross-sectoral collaboration and coordination
Zoonotic Health Specialist with ASEAN regional experience in zoonotic disease spillover especially as a result of the wildlife trade (both legal and illegal)
CSO Specialist with a sound knowledge of the key CWT players in the region (government and UN agencies, donors, NGOs, INGOs, private sector, academia, media etc.) and experience in developing and maintaining coordination platforms
Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist with ASEAN regional experience in developing and implementing social inclusion strategies both bottom-up and top down
National Media Specialists especially in countries of the lower Mekong
National Demand Reduction Specialists especially in countries of the lower Mekong with a sound understanding and experience in using Social Behavior Change models, strategies and approaches
Wildlife trade value chain specialists
Social Behavior Change Specialist
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of experience focused on the above-mentioned technical areas of expertise.
Experience working in ASEAN in particular the lower Mekong Sub-region
A sound understanding of the challenges of tackling CWT in the region
Experience working on USAID related projects and programs
An appreciation of working with government agencies at local, provincial and national levels
Native fluency or full professional proficiency in English and an ability to speak a second lower Mekong sub-region language preferred
High level of competency using the MS Office suite of programs
An ability to adapt and be flexible and experience working in a multicultural team
