ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
The Living Chapel is a US-based global environmental interfaith initiative under Inspired Harmony, Inc. whose mission is to unite all people around the shared value of care for our common home. Through widespread community involvement and intercultural, intergenerational collaboration, the Living Chapel integrates the values of biodiversity, harmony, and unity across the fields of ecology, faith, and art.
The flagship Living Chapel is an innovatively designed, eco-friendly, outdoor installation that opened in the Botanical Garden of Rome in June 2020. It was inspired by a call for the all-encompassing care of our planet in Laudato Si’, an encyclical issued by Pope Francis in 2015. The Living Chapel structure and ensuing tree-planting initiative comprise a global campaign in collaboration with the Vatican and the United Nations to serve as a collective environmental and ethical call to action. Upcoming installations are planned for Manila, Mumbai, California, and several African countries. The organization will provide a platform of tools and resources to facilitate the creation of thousands of Living Sacred Spaces worldwide, each one serving as an interfaith community hub for environmental action.
