Job Description:
IIE seeks a Chief of Party (CoP) for an upcoming USAID/Ethiopia Transformational Leadership program. The CoP will have oversight for field operations, supervise staff, program management, strategic vision, technical and fiscal integrity, and quality and timing of deliverables.
POSITION CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING
Essential Functions:
Provides program leadership, management and establishes the direction of the program. Builds strategic partnerships with USAID/Ethiopia, Government of Ethiopia, partners, and other program stakeholders.
Builds capacity of local in-country team including coaching and mentoring. Works closely with project team members to monitor implementation and ensure high-quality and timely completion and submission of all contractually required deliverables. Works closely with the IIE-home office staff on management of budget, compliance, reporting, and other project-related issues.
Provides office leadership and compliance oversight. Ensures alignment with IIE established procedures, identifies gaps, and makes recommendations for successful program implementation. Oversee in-country finances, budgeting, and procurement, ensuring that all finance and procurement is compliant with USG and IIE policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
Master’s degree in a relevant field from an internationally accredited university.
At least ten years of progressively responsible experience managing donor-funded programs of a similar size and complexity. USAID management experience strongly preferred as well as familiarity with USAID participant training programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated capacity to manage multi-cultural environment and help clients analyze problems and devise and adopt solutions; experience providing direct support to USAID missions desired.
Experience managing USG funded cooperative agreements/grants desired.
Management of USAID-funded programs that focus on leadership development or participant training a plus.
Must have proven supervisory and team leadership experience of diverse, multi-disciplinary staff.
Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking and planning, management, and presentation skills.
Experience working in Ethiopia strongly preferred.
Fluency in English is required; ability to participate in meetings in Amharic or other local languages is a plus.
