Role purpose
This role is for someone passionate about striving towards an end to global poverty and equipping others to do so as well. The role-holder will have experience of managing projects, liaising across various teams, motivating others to action and maximising fundraising opportunities.
‘The role holder will be responsible for facilitating key moments such as Christian Aid Week, Lent, Christmas and Harvest on behalf of Christian Aid Ireland in order to maximise income and supporter recruitment and retention. They will lead on the strategic development and innovation for Christian Aid Week including implementing the Christian Aid Week transformation strategy. This will involve working within the framework of Christian Aid Ireland’s Fundraising Strategy. The role holder will project manage Christian Aid Week and other key church fundraising moments working with colleagues across Christian Aid Ireland to help them plan and achieve fundraising targets related to Christian Aid Week and other key church fundraising moments. They will facilitate cooperation between teams in Ireland involved in delivering Christian Aid Week and other key fundraising moments. The role holder will represent Ireland on relevant cross-organisational working groups and be responsible for the production and adaptation of new and existing resources to support the fundraising ask. The role holder will liaise with church leaders, fundraising volunteers and staff colleagues to test fundraising innovations, ellicit feedback and gain insight to evaluate past appeals and inform future work. The role will speak in churches and other groups about the work of Christian Aid Ireland as required.
Role context
The role works in the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement Team and is line managed by the Church and Community Manager. The role coordinates a Christian Aid Week project group within Ireland involved in delivering key church fundraising initiatives. They work closely with other teams within Ireland and colleagues across the UK working on Christian Aid Week and key fundraising moments. The post is responsible for equipping the Church and Community team with the resources to achieve their fundraising targets for Christian Aid Week and contributing to the overall Fundraising Strategy for Christian Aid in Ireland.
Key outcomes
Church and Community staff and other relevant teams in Christian Aid Ireland are informed of new fundraising innovations and church appeals and are equipped with the appropriate resources to promote and maximise fundraising activities in support of these appeals.
Ireland is represented on key cross-organisational working groups such as the Christian Aid Week working group, Harvest, Lent and Christmas groups.
Christian Aid Ireland’s Community Fundraising portfolio is effectively undertaken, income is maximised and targets achieved in the key moments of the year such as Christian Aid Week, Lent, Harvest and Christmas.
Fundraising materials and supporting resources for key moments are adapted, proof read and effectively produced and project managed.
Teams across Christian Aid Ireland work together effectively to deliver church fundraising moments that maximise income and acquisition of new supporter data.
Fundraising initiatives and innovations are tested, effectively evaluated and the learning shared to inform future plans.
Person specification
Applied skills/knowledge and expertise
Essential
Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and commitment to work with the range of churches with which Christian Aid works.
Experience of fundraising or marketing with a proven ability to meet challenging fundraising targets.
Database interrogation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Good organisational skills with an ability to organise own workload and work on own initiative.
Ability to generate effective fundraising ideas and to project manage fundraising events.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people to achieve multiple outcomes, including volunteers, ministers, colleagues, designers and printers.
Car driver is essential for this post as travel within Ireland is anticipated.
Desirable
Institute of Fundraising certificate or equivalent
Knowledge of global development issues
Experience of community, regional or church-based fundraising.
