Duties and Responsibilities
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region’s economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise, and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. The internship at the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES) will last 3 to 6 months, depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an as-needed basis. The objective to which ILPES contributes is to strengthen planning and public management processes in the region in order to advance toward equitable and sustainable development.
The internship aims to contribute to the strengthening of the Planning Network for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean by supporting strategic communication, engagement with its members and ambassadors, and the implementation of virtual and in-person events. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
