Job Description
USP seeks a US-based communications consultant to work with
our team to create engaging external content, such as feature stories,
newsletters, and blogs, and to capture and share programmatic impact, showcase
achievements, and raise visibility. The Consultant(s) will be called to work on
an as-needed basis, under specific Work Orders, and will report to the
Consultant Supervisor listed on the Work Order.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating, editing, and modifying external-facing content, leveraging appropriate and effective digital storytelling and
interactive platforms.
- Translating complex technical terms and concepts into plain language for lay audiences while maintaining accuracy and
following best practices.
- Leading the development of program communication materials, such as feature stories, web content, fact sheets, and other
engaging communications.
- Working with headquarters and field office teams to obtain, consolidate, and confirm information and help teams
to identify activities and key achievements to highlight in feature stories and other materials.
- Capturing USP performance and program achievement information in program-specific reports or other communications
- Writing clear and compelling copy that supports program and clients’ priorities and helps to increase program
visibility.
- Advise on and support development of digital strategies to optimize engagement and developing related content (internal
pages, videos, feature content stories, etc.).
- Supporting development and execution of dissemination plans for priority products.
- Working in collaboration with the External Engagement and Program Delivery teams as well as relevant subject matter experts
to finalize written pieces for publication and dissemination.
- Supporting print and digital collateral for in-person, hybrid, and online events, as needed.
- Other freelance writing services as requested.
Deliverables
- Monthly itemized reports and invoices.
- Communications materials developed as assigned per Work Order.
Basic
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Communications, Journalism, English, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience developing and producing a variety of written materials for external, global
audiences.
- Excellent writing skills. Professional experience writing and producing feature stories, visual stories, or similar
communications products.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and pay close attention to detail. Well-organized with demonstrated multi-tasking
skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance will be December 1, 2025 – December 1, 2028.
