The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM), is implementing the Strengthening Inclusive Adaptation Capacity in Solomon Islands (SIAC-SI) Project. The initiative aims to strengthen the country’s ability to adapt to climate change through comprehensive climate risk and vulnerability assessments, development and implementation of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and enhanced resource mobilization, contributing to long-term climate resilience and sustainable development in the Solomon Islands.

GGGI is inviting applications for an internship position within the Solomon Islands Country Program to support ongoing work under the SIAC-SI Project.

The GGGI internship program provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Communications and Graphic Design (intern) to support the Solomon Islands Country Program in delivering day-to-day communication activities, including content development, visual communications, event support, and public engagement initiatives.

The assignment will include the following but not limited to:

• Work closely with the SIAC-SI Program team in the day-to-day implementation of communication activities.
• Support with communications work around SIAC-SI’s upcoming events, conferences and workshops including design of branding and other conference materials and distribution of these through the most appropriate channels.
• Support development of communication materials including infographics, posters, banners, fact sheets, and knowledge products.
• Draft short content for social media, newsletters, workshop summaries, and community updates.
• Support preparation of social media graphics and visual content for digital communications.
• Contribute to documentation of project progress through visual storytelling.
• Monitor research and news relevant to climate adaptation and summarize key messages.
• Support development of strategic communication materials for public engagement.
• Participate in planning and executing SIAC-SI communication and awareness campaigns
• Provide additional communication support to broader GGGI Pacific efforts when needed.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
• Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
• Possess an excellent command of English.

QUALIFICATION

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Journalism, Media, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Creativity and proficiency in storytelling, visual content creation, or digital communication tools.
• Experience in social media management, content writing, graphic design, video editing, or content creation is an advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in graphic design using software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, or similar tools.
• Ability to create compelling visual content and infographics.
• Knowledge of digital communication platforms is an advantage.
• Creative, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Interest in environmental issues, climate resilience, or sustainable development.
• Ability to work in a multicultural and dynamic environment.
• Be based in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
• Preferably have access to their own computer.
