Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis internship is located in the Peacebuilding Branch (PBF) of Peacebuilding and Peace Support Office (PBPSO) in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) and Department of Peace Operations (DPO). The internship is for a period of three (3) months with a possibility of extension to six (6) months in total.
The internship is UNPAID and is full-time (35 hours per week) at the UN Premise, New York, United States.
The intern will work under the supervision of a staff member in the Branch to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities:The Peacebuilding Support Office would like to recruit an intern to support the work of Peacebuilding Branch (PBF), specifically in communications and advocacy. Tasks will include:
The branch strives to offer interns an opportunity to work independently with substantive issues while also assisting colleagues in the day-to-day operations of the office. The intern will be encouraged to actively explore relevant training options from the wide range of training courses being offered on an on-going basis to UN staff at Headquarters.
Qualifications/Special SkillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.

LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an asset.
