IMMEDIATE NEED - COMMUNICATIONS & PARTNERSHIPS MANAGER

CORE Inc., d.b.a. CORE Group improves and expands community health practices for underserved populations, especially women and children, through collaborative action and learning. Established in 1997 in Washington D.C., CORE Group is an independent organization, and home of the Community Health Network, which brings together CORE Group Members, Associates, scholars, advocates and donors to support the health of underserved mothers, children and communities around the world.

The Communications and Partnerships Manager, in collaboration with the Communications Associate, will oversee the creation, implementation, and evaluation of internal and external communication and advocacy strategies to strengthen communication and knowledge-sharing between CORE Group and its membership and among the membership itself, to advocate for key community health activities and messages, and to demonstrate CORE Group’s value and impact in the field to CORE Group Members, Associates, donors, partners, and prospective members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Develops and oversees the implementation of an annual internal and external communication, marketing, and advocacy strategy to advance CORE Group’s brand identity, broadening awareness of its programs and priorities, its value-added, and increasing the visibility of its efforts across key stakeholder audiences, including:

  • Identifying print, electronic and in-person vehicles to communicate with key audiences and increase CORE Group brand awareness and fundraising opportunities.
  • Assisting Executive Director with creating targeted communication messages for business development opportunities.
  • Providing communications support for CORE Group annual work plan.
  • Developing and implementing a marketing and dissemination strategy for CORE Group print and electronic materials via digital and traditional media outreach.
  • Working with leadership and staff to identify and address internal communications opportunities and solutions and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.
  • Providing advocacy and communication support to CORE Group and its network on key global health initiatives and all USAID-funded projects, including the CORE Group Polio Project, Food Security & Nutrition Network, Maternal and Child Survival Project and any future projects.

2. Strengthen communication channels between CORE Group and its membership, ensuring strong collaboration and cross-learning among members and between CORE Group and its members, and strengthening the knowledge of CORE Group’s value-added among the Community Health Network, including:

  • Conducting membership outreach via surveys, online research, and in-person networking to strengthen knowledge-sharing and to solicit input on membership needs
  • Developing and providing opportunities for increased Member, Associate and partner involvement.
  • Supporting working groups to develop annual work plans and conduct activities.
  • Supporting the planning, execution and follow-up of CORE Group Conferences, workshops and technical update meetings as appropriate.

3. Oversees writing, content management, and design direction for CORE Group’s website (works with IT consultant and CORE Group Communications Associate).

  • Work with the Executive Director, CORE Group staff, Working Group Chairs, and other Members to develop and implement long and short-term online communication plans.
  • Manage web 2.0 tools and integrate new features into the web; develops consultant scopes of work and manages consultants to ensure timely and accurate delivery of new web features and content.
  • Research, hire, and oversee management of other communication and ICT consultants as needed.
  • Monitor web statistics, provide quarterly reports to the Executive Director, and develop activities to increase web traffic.
  • Update the website content on a monthly basis or as needed with latest updates, Member highlights, new tools/resources, and upcoming events.

4. Oversees the development and dissemination of all CORE Group print and web-related communication activities to include:

  • Writing and overseeing the design of the CORE Group Annual Report, monthly e-newsletter, articles, brochures, power point presentations, technical briefs, and other documents to promote CORE Group’s membership and CORE Group secretariat activities, especially during the CORE Group conferences.
  • Updating the CORE Group case statement with new case stories showing how CORE Group is making an impact.
  • Ensuring the inventory of all CORE Group materials is up-to-date.
  • Ensuring that all print and online communications are consistent with CORE Group messaging and brand marketing.

5. Oversees the writing, editing, review, design, and dissemination process for all technical/program materials developed by CORE Group (e.g., NGO case studies and field stories, curricula, manuals). This includes:

  • Developing scopes of work and contracting with consultants and vendors
  • Managing the technical review process of documents with appropriate CORE Group working group members, staff, and donor staff.
  • Managing copyediting, layout, and printing and ensuring all guides are within CORE Group’s and USAID’s guidelines.
  • Managing translations as needed.
  • Developing and managing a marketing and dissemination process for all CORE Group tools and resources.

6. Supervise and support the work and professional development of the CORE Group
Communications Associate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field including communications, journalism, international development, or public health.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the communications field, planning, writing, editing, and producing communications through a variety of print and online media, with new media technology utilization working with web 2.0 technology (Joomla).
  • Experience working with networks/membership organizations and conference planning preferred.
  • Experience working in NGO sector and with USAID contracts/cooperative agreements preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising at least one person is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Premiere).
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to convey messages through clear and concise writing
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Ability to multi-task, remain calm and organized under pressure, and supervise multiple contractors is required.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team player who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
  • Fluency in written English required.
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish a plus.


Salary commensurate with experience. Only U.S.-based candidates will be considered. Relocation package is not available.
