TEAM PURPOSE: To build strong community awareness, active participation and ownership around solid waste management and recycling activities and reduce public health risks and environmental impact, contributing to a life with dignity for vulnerable people in Zaatari Camp.
JOB PURPOSE: The Community Engagement Assistant will supervise incentive-based volunteers to manage and implement OXFAM Community Engagement (CE) Activities and services, including identifying the opportunities for affecting positive changes in the Zaatari community, also for facilitating relationships between OXFAM and the community in the Camp and ensuring community have opportunity to input, participate and provide feedback in the Solid Waste Management and Recycling activities. The Community Engagement Assistant will support Community Engagement Officer and CE team to ensure that programming pursued by OXFAM is informed by and driven by the community.

In addition, an ideal candidate will also have:
• Graduate from a recognized university
• At least 1year experience of work in Community Engagement, Community/Social mobilisation, and Community Outreach.
• Good knowledge of public health promotion and experience in implementation of social and behaviour change activities
• Able to collect, enter and analyses data against project indicators.
• Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative assessments.
• Experience of working in a multicultural team.
• Good coordination skills; and strong commitment to gender equality and social justice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven knowledge of computerized systems; high degree of computer literacy and word processing
• Ability and experience in training people
• Potential and flexibility of attitude to learn
• The ability to present concise reports, sometimes at short notice, reflecting the problems and possible solutions for particular situations.
• The post holder should be at ease in working with local communities and Syrian refugees.
• Good written and spoken Arabic is essential, workable knowledge of English is desirable
• Sympathy with the aims and objectives of Oxfam.
• Commitment to humanitarian principles and action and to Oxfam’s equal opportunity and gender policies.
