As a Community Health Assistant you will collaborate with the Service Centre Supervisor, the incumbent supports the administration and volunteer resource management of the Health Equipment Loan Program and office functions. Duties include prepare and review applicable documents to ensure accuracy and appropriate approvals; process all administrative paperwork to meet monthly financial deadlines; respond to requests for information from clients on a timely basis and other general administrative support.

As a Community Health Assistant you will:

  • Coordinate and support the delivery of the Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures.
  • Assists in recruitment, training, orientation and supervision of volunteers engaged in HELP and other community health programs.
  • Assist with program specific monitoring functions and statistics collection and prepares reports.
  • Maintain accurate records on loans, returns, inventory, statistics, equipment repairs and purchases.
  • Executes a comprehensive volunteer resource management program to support Community Health and Wellness programs.
  • Coordination of day to day administrative functions.
  • Travel between Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor is mandatory.
  • Support other Red Cross initiatives, as needed, to provide for a coordinated team effort to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in the community.

What we are looking for:

  • The minimum qualifications for this job are College or University education in business, health, or community health with one to three years of job related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a health-related field.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, in English is mandatory.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple issues simultaneously in a complex environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities, combined with sound organizational and leadership skills, are essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Previous experience working with volunteers is an asset.
  • Demonstrated customer service, computer proficiency and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel within province. Ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract.
  • A Criminal Record Check is required.
  • Standard First Aid & CPR certification is required.

Working conditions:

  • The majority of the work is performed in an environment which is mostly clean and comfortable. Travel between Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor is mandatory for the position.
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is mandatory for this position and operation (the CRC will however adhere to its duty to accommodate those who are unable to be fully vaccinated for a reason related to a human right protected ground)
