Role Overview

Job Title: Community Outreach Worker

Location: Cambridgeshire

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 per week (Duty rota between 08.00am – 20.00pm)

Recruitment and Retention Allowance

For this role we pay a Recruitment and Retention Allowance to external candidates of £1500 (pro rata for part time roles). This is paid in two payments – half on commencement in the role and the other half following the successful completion of probation. The allowance is subject to deduction for tax and NI.

We are recruiting for Community Outreach Worker to provide high quality personal welfare support service to survivors of domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse including those at the point of crisis. This role involves working within a multi-agency framework to develop referral, joint working and information sharing protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Providing a high quality personal welfare support service to survivors of domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse including those at the point of crisis.
  • Working in partnership with other agencies to advocate for survivors to ensure their needs are met.
  • Working within a multi-agency framework to develop referral, joint working and information sharing protocols.
  • Conducting key work sessions and keeping casework records up to date.
  • Developing and delivering individual support and risk management plans.
  • Ensuring that clients are aware of their rights to legal protection for themselves and their children.
  • Arranging provision of legal advice as required and accompanies clients to appointments if appropriate.
  • Assessing benefit requirements of women escaping domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse and to ensure prompt take up of housing and other benefits.

Essential Skills or Experience

  • Experience of providing emotional, practical and welfare support.
  • Up to date knowledge of legislation relating to survivors of domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics and impact of domestic violence and how best to support survivors.
  • Demonstrable ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to build and develop supportive relationships with clients and their children fleeing domestic violence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to use own initiative.
  • Commitment to work within and to maintain Refuge’s core values.
