Brief Description:
IBI is seeking a Financing, Export, and Investment Promotion Team Leader for an upcoming SME Competitiveness Project in El Salvador.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic support to public institutions that support or incentivize MSMEs, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Collaborate with private business associations to identify and address the needs of MSMEs.
- Develop and supervise initiatives aimed at increasing MSME productivity and competitiveness.
- Facilitate access to national and international markets for MSMEs through targeted promotion programs and partnerships, including investment forums and trade missions.
- Conduct investment-ready capacity-building activities for MSMEs, focusing on business development, market access, and productivity improvement.
- In collaboration with the MEL team, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of MSME support initiatives, making adjustments as necessary to enhance impact.
- Work closely with MSMEs to understand their challenges and opportunities, providing tailored support and guidance.
- Conduct regular visits to MSMEs and partner institutions to provide technical assistance and ensure effective implementation of initiatives.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Key Qualifications:
- Preferably a Master’s Degree in business administration, economics, marketing, or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience in MSME development, business support services, or related fields; or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of progressive experience in these areas.
- At least five years of demonstrated experience and understanding of international best practices in SME development, especially in enhancing competitiveness and innovation.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships across sectors and to structure strategic partnerships/coalitions between and among private sector stakeholders
- Experience with investment forums and trade missions.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of global best practices in SME development, especially in enhancing competitiveness, fostering an environment for innovation, and job creation.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships across sectors and to structure strategic partnerships/coalitions between and among private sector stakeholders.
- Prior experience in El Salvador is required.
- Experience with USAID programs is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish is required.
