Job Location: Uganda

Background

BRAC International (BI) is a leading non-profit organisation with a mission to empower people and communities in situations of poverty, illiteracy, disease, and social injustice. We design proven, scalable solutions that equip people with the support and confidence they need to achieve their potential. BRAC’s institutional expertise on successfully
implemented programmes is applied across 10 countries, touching the lives of over 130 million people, where our models are adapted according to the country’s context.

Overview

BRAC International seeks competitive technical proposals for the Dual-Generation Research & Learning partner opportunity. The primary research objective for the study is to determine if participating in the ultra-poor graduation program leads to improved outcomes for caregivers and for children attending the humanitarian play lab. More broadly, this research stud is one of the first studies to consider a dual-generation approach to early childhood development in an international setting and context of forced displacement and will provide an important foundation for future work considering similar approaches. It addresses the key question of how providing support to vulnerable households can improve children’s early education experiences.

The Research & Learning partner will oversee endline data collection for this on-going project. The study will be conducted in Rhino Camp and Imvepi Refugee settlement in the Arua District of the West Nile. Although data collection will likely take place in July and August 2025, the engagement will commence several months prior to ensure proper research permissions are obtained.
