KMDP and Vocational Skills Development
The Kenya Market-led Dairy Programme (KMDP) is a 4.5 year programme funded by the Netherland’s Embassy in Nairobi as part of its
food security agenda. The programme is implemented by SNV/Kenya.
One of KMDP’s focus areas is support to Dairy Training and Skills Development. This is actioned through institu-tional support at two levels: the national Dairy Training Institute in Naivasha and promotion of the concept of Practical Dairy Training Farms/Centres in various milk sheds. The PDTCs are commercial dairy farms that have opened and equipped their farms for training of dairy farmers of different categories: small, medium and large scale including farm managers.
