Role Description

ASI Australia is currently recruiting for several short and long-term project roles in the following technical areas:

  • Team Leader;
  • Environmental management and mine closure;
  • Mineral valuation

We are looking for the following expertise and experience:

  • Team Leader role:
    • Extensive leadership experience, preferably related to establishing a business, project or structure from the beginning;
    • Experience of leading and coordinating project teams made up of staff from different disciplines and different seniority levels;
    • Experience of developing and implementing large development programmes in the mining sector;
    • Experience in the facilitation of donor-mine-government cooperation (preferable);
    • Significant demonstrated understanding of development issues in Mongolia and especially in the mining sector (preferable);
    • Willingness to relocate for defined period
  • All roles:
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in the respective technical field in the mining industry;
    • Experience in Bilateral/Multilateral and – preferably - DFAT funded projects (preferable);

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (masters level or Ph.D);
  • Additional formal qualifications in any of the following areas based on role applying for:
    • International Development, Project Management, Public Administration and Management, or similar
    • Environmental engineering, mine closure preferable
    • Geology (mineralogy, exploration geology, deposit geology or related fields) / mining engineering or a related field
    • Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, Natural Resources Economics, or other relevant field
    • Tertiary qualifications in Mining or a mining related discipline.

Language:

  • English fluency essential
  • Mongol khel fluency highly beneficial
