Job Description

This position is responsible for working closely with the CSR Director to help further our social responsibility, mission and differentiate our brand as socially responsible. This position will also help engage the brand in new philanthropic campaigns and social causes, as well as coordinating and executing existing campaigns, programs and internal communications that align with the corporation’s business objectives.

  • Coordinate philanthropic campaigns and serve as a liaison between the Company and our charitable partners (eg., No Kid Hungry, United Way, etc.)

  • Coordinate the CSR Community Involvement Submission program which highlights the partnerships that Denny’s restaurants are involved in at the local community level

  • Coordinate Local Heroes program which features Denny’s team members for serving their community

  • Partner with external advertising and public relations agencies to coordinate CSR activities and associated public relations

  • Work with franchisees and restaurant teams to understand more about their social efforts (for example, gathering human interest stories highlighting Denny’s team members)

  • Consolidate and report on social responsibility activities across the brand

  • Research and report on CSR efforts of other companies

  • Coordinate and assist on video & photo shoots for CSR promotions, reputation management and internal communications

  • Assist in gathering data for CSR presentations for the Leadership Committee, Board of Directors, and Marketing Brand Advisory Council

  • Assist CSR Team Leads with their individual team initiatives, activities, and meetings

  • Assist in publication of newsletters and internal communications

  • Coordinate meeting schedules and calendar for main CSR team

  • Record and publish meeting notes from CSR Team meetings

  • Other duties as assigned, including department projects

Job Requirements
  • BA degree in Communications, PR, or Journalism required or equivalent work experience
  • 2-3 years previous CSR experience within a corporate environment is ideal but not required
  • 2-3 years previous PR or communications experience required
  • Invested interest in social causes and/or philanthropy
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to multi-task, work with all professionals at different levels of the organization
  • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Professional presence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Familiarity with social networking sites
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish fluency
  • Excellent listening and assessment skills
