CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS UNIT
The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB/the Bank) is seeking to recruit a national from its Member Countries to fill the position of Corporate Communications Officer in the Corporate Communications Unit. The successful candidates will be based at CDB’s headquarters in St. Michael, Barbados.
CDB is a regional multilateral development bank which was established in October 1969 to contribute to the harmonious economic growth and development of the member countries in the Caribbean Region and to promote economic cooperation and integration among them, having special and urgent regard to the needs of the less-developed members of the Region. CDB began operations in January 1970 and has become a leading catalyst for providing development financing, technical assistance and policy advice to its Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs) for the reduction of poverty.
The Role
Reporting to the Head, Corporate Communications, the CCO contributes to the increased visibility and understanding of CDB’s vision and purpose. The CCO supports the implementation of internal and external communication initiatives that will advance the Bank’s brand identity, broaden awareness of its programmes and priorities, and increase the knowledge of the impact of its programmes across key stakeholder audiences.
The Candidate
Eligible candidates should have:
1. A first degree in communication, public relations, journalism or marketing, and a postgraduate degree in a related field.
2. A minimum of eight years of professional experience with a proven record of working in the field of media and communication, with media channels and online communication platforms. Experience working in regional and/or international media and in a development setting is desirable.
3. Exceptional research, writing, editing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
4. Strong leadership, diplomatic and persuasive skills.
5. Demonstrable knowledge and competence in use of web 2.0 technology, and successful experience in graphic design, video production, managing new media and digital channels, including website development.
6. A good understanding of international development topics and issues.
7. A second language competency (preferably French or Dutch) would be an asset.
The successful candidate must be willing to live and work in Barbados.
