The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance — International IDEA is an intergovernmental organization that supports sustainable democracy worldwide. Its objective is to strengthen democratic institutions and processes. International IDEA acts as a catalyst for democracy building by providing knowledge resources, policy proposals and supporting democratic reforms in response to specific national requests. It works together with policy makers, governments, UN organizations and agencies and regional organizations engaged in the field of democracy building.
International IDEA’s notable areas of expertise are: electoral processes, political parties, constitution-building processes, democracy and gender and democracy assessments. According to International IDEA’s Strategy 2012-2017, the Institute will given its strategic direction globally focus on the strategic planning and monitoring of the implementation of the Strategy. And further, maintaining a results-based, effective and efficient management system and organizational structure. In this lieu the position of Corporate Planning Officer is designed to enhance and strengthen the strategic planning and monitoring cycle from a performance and operational point of view, with the goal of promoting collaboration, increased efficiency and effectiveness. The service oriented and client facing nature of the Corporate Planner role incorporates an Institute-wide hands-on coordination role of the corporate workplan on the programme managerial level as well as providing standard and ad hoc analytical reporting suited for the Management Committee level. Results reporting towards internal and external stakeholders through diverse and interactive channels is another key aspect of the role.
