The Country Director (CD) provides leadership and management of WaterAid PNG’s Country Program, leading our policy and advocacy with national government and other development stakeholders, and supporting the implementation of programs focused on WASH sector strengthening, WASH and hygiene behaviour change implemented through collaboration with sports organisations, and WASH and menstrual hygiene management.
This position involves championing, monitoring and reviewing the implementation of our Country Strategy (2017-2020), and will lead the development of the next strategy. The Country Director is accountable for ensuring that WaterAid PNG achieves its strategic objectives and has effective operations in order to promote and secure people’s rights with regards access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation.
A key goal for the Country Director will be supporting PNG staff to take on more senior positions within the organisation. Ideally, the Country Director will identify and mentor a PNG colleague to be their successor.
It is a requirement of this role that you are able to commit to up to 4 weeks international travel per year. The role also requires travel to rural and remote parts of PNG. For more information go to www.wateraid.org/au.
