COUNTRY REPRESENTATIVES - Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda - Short Term Assignments - up to 2 days per month

Context:
EAGER is a facility established in 2015 and funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) to catalyse private and public investment in geothermal power across East Africa.

The facility offers high quality, on-demand advice to Governments on strategy, policy and regulation to attract investment in geothermal power. It is managed and delivered by a consortium of partners led by a British consultancy, Adam Smith International.

Currently, the facility operates from Kenya and is advising energy ministries, regulators, utilities and geothermal development agencies in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda on overcoming barriers to development and investment in geothermal power.

Positions available:
EAGER is looking for experienced individuals to represent the facility and its activities in East Africa and to facilitate and lead engagement on its behalf with Government clients. Individuals are required for Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Job
* The selected individual will carry out the following role on the programme:
* Undertake in-country engagement with senior officials within Government ministries, agencies and bodies on behalf of the programme and its activities.
* Provide guidance to the programme team on developments within the country’s electricity sector and any other relevant country dynamics.
* Quality assure relevant terms of reference and programme deliverables (e.g. analysis, presentations, reports) for accuracy and consistency where requested.

Skills and experience
Essential:
* A minimum of 10 years’ of professional working experience.
* Experience of working or consulting within the electricity sector, particularly within the public sector.
* Strong existing networks in the country’s electricity sector, particularly within Government.
* Background in Electricity utilities, Electricity regulation and policy, Renewable electricity generation and project development, Oil and gas exploration

Preferred:
* 5 years’ experience of living and working in country.
* Experience of working with donor agencies (e.g. DFID) or donor funded programmes in East Africa.
* Excellent written and communication skills in English and any local languages.

Commitment
Expected 1-2 days per month, with sufficient flexibility to respond to needs as requested.
Available to start as soon as possible and must be based full-time or close to full-time in country.
