Job Description
The Data and Reporting Lead oversees the team that develops and maintains the highest levels of data competency, accuracy standards and reporting capacity across the Institute. The Lead develops strategy for leveraging data to gain a deeper insight into IIE’s business and impact on international education. Individual builds a vision on how data and metrics can support IIE’s long term strategy and enhance IIE’s internal operations. The Lead champions and promotes best practices in data management for the full term of the data life-cycle. Individual works closely with IIE’s Legal and IT Security teams to ensure the strictest standards of PII protection and data security in all aspects of data management and reporting.
Essential Functions:
- Manages overall data architecture and manages, develops, prioritizes and recommends initiatives to improve and build upon the data architecture to support the business.
- Ensures consistency of process and usage, and champions best practices in data management Oversees data accuracy processes, goals and assessment.
- Ensures resolution of data conflicts between systems and within systems’ data universe.
- Works with internal stakeholders to develop strategies for leveraging data to gain a deeper insight into IIE’s business, impact on international education, and IIE’s story.
- Ensures rigorous adherence to IIE policies regarding PII protection and data security. Oversees data expiry practices and establishes and implements processes for data archival and expiry.
- Manages and develops the staffing of the Data & Reporting unit; champions team collaboration; monitors and develops career paths within the unit. Make recommendations concerning employment, termination, performance evaluations, salary actions, and other personnel actions.
- Responsible for user experience with data and reporting tools.
- Member of the Knowledge Management Cabinet.
- Responsible for feedback processes in all unit activity.

- Financial Management: Monitors expenses against established budget or participates in small scale revenue generation activities. Has an influence over what can and cannot be included in an established budget.
- Interactions/ Types of Contacts: Regularly interacts with team members both within and outside of their department, as well as clients, participants, and partners in carrying out their work assignments.
- Interactions/ Purpose of Contact: Exchanges functional/technical information to aid in management decision making as an integral part of carrying out work assignments. Interactions with others are primarily advisory in nature.
- Focus of Work: Work focuses primarily on accomplishing the business goals and objectives of a department.
- People Management: Accountable for getting work done through others. Planning work, filling jobs, assigning work, scheduling, coaching, and measuring work of others. Raises performance successes and concerns.
- Work Requirements/ Formal Education: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in order to apply a working knowledge of the theories and principles in a specialized field or work discipline.
- Work Requirements/ Work Experience: Requires at least eight years of related work experience.
- Knowledge: Requires an in-depth application of a specialized body of knowledge and is considered an authority or subject matter expert in their field within the organization. At this level of competency, a team member applies in-depth knowledge to enhance and identify new directions of IIE programs, policies, services and systems.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive experience managing and analyzing data, including strong understanding of Cloud data integration and management.
- Specific knowledge of PeopleSoft or other ERP platform preferred.
- Good familiarity with querying and reporting tools.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Very strong project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
- Skilled proficiency in preparation of reports, presentations, summaries and analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with OMB, FISMA, FIPS, HIPAA and other federal regulations / requirements associated with Information Security
- Working knowledge of scholarship management and international education data structures a plus.
- Experience with Business Objects 4.0 is preferred.

Essential functions are performed in a general office setting with low noise. Global Development Center
IIE's Global Development Center (GDC) administers professional capacity-building programs serving participants from developing countries. The GDC's professional training and exchange programs have allowed participants to gain both industry and public agency based expertise, and acquire leadership, management and technical skills in a variety of fields.
