Job Description
Background:
There is a need for talented interns to assist in comprehensive data collection and management efforts. Interns will play a crucial role in identifying data sources, entering and managing data, enhancing data collection processes, and supporting overall project goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data Collection:
- Identify and gather data from relevant sources in the Arab region, both offline and online.
- Enter collected data into the databases accurately.
- Enhance data-collection processes by optimizing workflows and utilizing tools such as Google Sheets and the admin portal.
- Develop and implement data entry protocols to maintain consistency and quality.
- Data Management:
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness through regular verification and validation.
- Update and maintain the database to reflect the latest information.
- Assist with data analysis and reporting.
- Generate reports and summaries from the database as required for stakeholder reviews.
- Address and resolve data-related issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Support and Coordination:
- Collaborate with team members to ensure data needs are met and project requirements are fulfilled.
- Provide training and support to other team members on data entry and management procedures.
- Assist in coordinating data-related tasks and timelines to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- The duration of a United Nations internship is for a minimum of two months on a full-time basis - this may be exceptionally extended for a maximum period of six months.
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
- Applicants must:
- be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
- have graduated with a university degree (as defined above);
- Applicants must:
- be computer literate in standard software applications.
- have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter; and
- have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
