The United Nations Resident Coordinator leads the UN Country Team (UNCT) and represents the UN Secretary-General to the Government of Eswatini.
The Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) supports UNCT through inter-agency coordination, strategic planning, UNSDCF monitoring, joint programming support, policy guidance, and ensuring system-wide accountability.
Internship is UNPAID, in-person, and under the supervision of the Data Management and Results Reporting Officer (DMRO).
Responsibilities of the Data Management and Results Reporting Intern:
Analytical Support
Review and validate incoming data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify trends, gaps, and progress against indicators.
Synthesize findings into actionable insights for decision-making and strategic planning.
Prepare analytical summaries and visualizations to communicate results effectively.
Implementation Planning
Contribute to drafting the One UN Results report.
Assist in monitoring Joint Workplans (results frameworks, indicators, timelines).
Assist in preparing reports for UNCT attention on the UNSDCF 2021–2025.
Data and Research
Collect, organize, and maintain relevant datasets to support evidence-based decision-making.
Conduct desk research and literature reviews to inform programme planning and reporting.
Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to identify patterns, trends, and gaps.
Produce research briefs, summaries, and visual presentations for stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement
Support coordination with MEPD, line ministries, and development partners.
Assist in organizing consultations, workshops, and validation meetings.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Assist in strengthening SDG monitoring systems.
Support development of tools for tracking ESRAP implementation.
Contribute to periodic progress reports and policy briefs.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Applicants must be students in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, enrolled in Master’s/Ph.D. programs, or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree.
Preferred fields of study: Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, or related fields.
Strong analytical and writing skills.
Familiarity with SDGs, national development planning, and Eswatini’s socio-economic context.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, STATA).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Languages
Required: English (fluency in spoken and written).
Desirable: Siswati.
Intern Specific Information
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or sponsoring institutions.
Non-citizen interns may need appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
