Job Description

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing Infrastructure for Tomorrow in Asia and beyond—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. We began operations in Beijing in 2016 and have since grown to 111 approved members worldwide. We are capitalized at USD100 billion and AAA-rated by the major international credit rating agencies. Collaborating with partners, AIIB meets clients’ needs by unlocking new capital and investing in infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled, and promotes regional connectivity.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Research team is undertaking a comprehensive analysis to assess the development impact of AIIB-financed programs across multiple countries. This project aims to attribute the impact of infrastructure investments on key development outcomes using large-scale household and community datasets such as The World Bank Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS), Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS), and UNICEF MICS. The analysis will inform evidence-based decision-making and contribute to AIIB’s broader research agenda on infrastructure and development.

Responsibilities:
  • Compile and clean large multi-country datasets (10–50 countries, depending on data availability).
  • Merge datasets from different sources (e.g. LSMS, DHS, MICS) ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Conduct econometric analysis to estimate the impact of AIIB programs on development outcomes.
  • Apply advanced techniques such as propensity score matching to identify comparable geographic areas within countries where projects were not implemented.
  • Prepare summary tables, visualizations, and technical documentation of findings.
  • Contribute to drafting a research note or report summarizing methodology and key results.
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s/MBA or PhD program, preferably in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields.
  • Strong proficiency in data analytics and econometric methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling and merging large multi-country datasets.
  • Familiarity with household survey data (LSMS, DHS, MICS) and impact evaluation techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present technical findings clearly.
  • Great team player with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.

AIIB is committed to diversity, transparency, and inclusion. We believe our strength comes from having a team with the right diverse skills, experiences, and abilities selected through a merit-based competitive process. We actively encourage applications from people from both within and outside AIIB members, regardless of nationality, religion, gender, race, disability, or sexual orientation.

Join in AIIB’s mission to promote sustainable infrastructure investments and to improve social and economic outcomes in Asia and beyond.

Previous experience and qualifications will determine the grade and job title at which successful applicants will enter AIIB.
