In this role, you will work directly with Devex reporters and editors, learn how international development works from the inside and build your brand as a journalist.

Primary responsibilities:

• Writing multiple pieces each week on deadline based on the coverage of events, interviews and the analysis of relevant news stories.
• Facilitating conversations and debate with our members on social media by moderating discussions, creating slideshows and hosting video interviews.
• Occasionally authoring substantial feature stories.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in journalism from a top institution.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• At least some work experience as a reporter, including internships.
• US work authorization.

Desired skills:

• Strong intellectual achievement and a deep interest in policy and development details.
• Experience in the developing world and knowledge of the global development community.
• Working knowledge of a foreign language.

Location: This fellowship entails a 40-hour per week consulting contract and a monthly stipend of $2,000. (Fellows are considered independent contractors rather than employees of Devex and are not eligible for employment benefits such as health insurance.)

It is based in our centrally located Washington, D.C., office (work from home and flexible hours may be possible) and is for a six-month period with possible extension for an additional six months.
