The Deputy Director is a new and temporary leadership role conceived for an ambitious and strategic senior professional who will eventually ascend to the Chief Development and Communications Officer (CDCO) at
MiracleFeet, based on demonstrated impact and leadership. The Deputy Director will be responsible for optimizing MiracleFeet’s fundraising efforts through data-driven strategy, performance analysis, and innovative fundraising approaches. This position will supervise the six-person Development team (which includes
Comms/Marketing) and focus on enhancing the team’s productivity and effectiveness by providing strategic insights, refining fundraising processes, and helping MiracleFeet meet our long-term revenue growth objectives.
The Deputy Director will work closely with the current CDCO and CEO from the beginning and gain deep exposure to all aspects of MiracleFeet’s fundraising, communications, team management and organizational leadership, preparing them for this expanded and external role leading MiracleFeet’s development and communications functions. The timeframe for the Deputy Director to ascend to the CDCO role is flexible but we expect it to take at least four months. Once the transition is complete, the Deputy Director role will cease to exist, though its functions and responsibilities will be part of the job description of the CDCO role.
This role is designed to initially provide the analytical and strategic backbone needed to maximize fundraising success and eventually to contribute to and lead fundraising efforts, alongside the CEO and other members of the Development team. The role will initially report to the CDCO with a dotted line to the CEO. This position must be based in the United States. The Deputy Director should expect to travel internationally and domestically at least 20% of the time, and represent MiracleFeet at events and conferences, as well as with donors and other potential partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy & Development Team Leadership
· Supervise the Development team, providing strategic guidance and operational leadership to enhance productivity and fundraising performance.
· Analyze fundraising data and performance metrics to provide actionable insights that inform strategy and improve fundraising outcomes.
· Develop systems and processes that streamline fundraising operations, ensuring efficiency and alignment with organizational goals.
· Develop clear, data-driven reports that analyze MiracleFeet’s fundraising progress, highlighting key successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
· Ensure cross-functional alignment between the Development, Communications, Finance and Program teams to
support a cohesive and data-driven fundraising strategy.
Fundraising Innovation & Best Practices
· Identify and implement emerging trends, tools, and best practices in nonprofit fundraising to enhance MiracleFeet’s revenue growth.
· Conduct benchmarking and competitive analysis to assess MiracleFeet’s fundraising performance against similar organizations.
· Collaborate with the Development team to refine donor messaging and engagement strategies based on data insights.
· Provide leadership in testing and optimizing new fundraising approaches, including digital campaigns, donor stewardship strategies, and recurring giving programs.
Board & Stakeholder Engagement
· Prepare high-quality board materials (reports, dashboards, presentations) with a focus on fundraising performance, trends, and strategic insights to support informed decision-making.
· Ensure that board members and key stakeholders have the necessary data and context (fundraising progress, successes, and challenges) to effectively support fundraising efforts.

Qualifications:
· 10+ years of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising operations, data analysis, or strategic planning, preferably in international development or global health.
· Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
· Proven ability to analyze data (ideally fundraising and/or marketing), assess performance trends, and provide strategic recommendations to optimize fundraising efforts.
· Experience leading and managing teams, with strong mentoring and coaching skills.
· Tangible experience of having secured at least multi-year, six figure new funders, as well as expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with prior experience in public speaking and external relations, and the ability to represent the organization to a variety of stakeholders, especially donors.
· Experience in developing and implementing systems, processes, and tools to improve efficiency and team
productivity.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in data analysis, creating and managing
complex formulas, and data visualization tools.
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
