North America and Itad

Itad Inc has been building its US operations with ambitious targets to secure contracts from US-based organizations, USAID and other federal agencies, as well as with foundations and multilaterals. To maximize these opportunities, we are looking to hire a senior leadership position to support the US Director to significantly grow the business. As we look ahead to being awarded and delivering contracts, this position will also support scale up of our operations to ensure we can rapidly scale-up and mobilize efficiently to deliver federal contracts.

The opportunity

You will be entrepreneurial and have a demonstrated ability to develop, lead and apply creative strategic thinking to building new areas of work with a track record of commercial success. You will have demonstrable experience in developing effective working relationships with clients and have the ability to lead, manage and influence others. You will be an effective ambassador for Itad, representing its values within the NA market. Your ability to adapt to different audiences, through sharing knowledge and information, whilst ensuring you are able to negotiate effectively, will be a core part of your skill set. You will be able to influence, and interpret NA market requirements for key internal stakeholders across all areas of the business, developing enthusiasm and support around the NA strategy. You are passionate about making a difference and delivering insights that drive better development results. Motivated by challenges, you enjoy playing a key role in developing and defining new initiatives. Itad is recruiting a Deputy Director or Managing Associate for the organizations US operations. Title and specific role will be agreed with the candidate as part of the interview process.

Scope of the role

This role will be foundational to the growth of Itad Inc., by expanding the US office’s technical and business development capacity. We are seeking a candidate who has expertise in one or more of Itad’s practice areas who can lead or support existing MEL projects and run business development for similar opportunities in the US. This candidate will be empowered to select and lead the development of new US business, based on his or her interest and expertise and the development of necessary systems and processes required to deliver new projects.

Project Management

  • Deliver on projects across Itad’s practice areas, both Itad UK and US offices. This includes communicating with clients, setting up and monitoring work plans, managing budgets, contracting consultants as needed (task orders, etc.), contracting/managing organizational partners as needed, provide quality assurance on deliverables, holding weekly team calls, managing logistics for any travel/field work components, financial management, etc.
  • Assist (serve as team member) the delivery of projects across Itad’s practice areas related to bilateral, multilateral, foundations, and US government (‘potential clients’) funded projects for Itad UK and US offices; Provide technical support and participate in all stages of projects, including inception, data collection/fieldwork, analysis and reporting where applicable.
  • Travel for projects as needed (up to 10-20%) to UK and relevant countries.

Business Development

  • Identify opportunities with potential clients.
  • Lead portfolio management using data management tool (i.e. Pipedrive) to inform data calls from Finance and BD Units, translating data for use by UK Office systems as required.
  • Participate and support general portfolio discussions with Itad practice leads and partners.
  • Support in the development of Itad Inc. revenue goals, BD strategy and portfolio focus.
  • Develop relationships with potential clients
  • Serve as bid manager for proposals that Itad leads – lead in requesting materials from partners, Itad UK office engagement, and consultants as needed.
  • Prepare materials for primes as needed based on data request, liaising with UK Office
  • Identify and engage partners as needed (both for primes and sub situations)
  • Lead in the recruitment of consultants for proposals
  • Prepare and review staffing, past performance, and financial materials for proposals
  • Negotiate, prepare, and review contractual documents related to implementing/consortium partners, including non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements, Letters of Intent and sub-contracting agreements.
  • Participate in relevant events like USAID forecast calls, etc. as needed
  • Travel as needed to meet with Clients

Operations

  • Assist in establishing financial, portfolio and timesheet related management systems as well as communication systems
  • Assist in developing branding and communications materials/corporate capabilities statements for Itad Inc.
  • Assist in developing an organizational chart for Itad Inc and an Employee Handbook
  • Assist with recruitment for other positions as identified in org. chart
  • Look into Quality Assurance ISOs, safeguarding, etc policies at the UK office and how they transfer to Itad Inc.

Your Experience

  • An understanding of monitoring and evaluation methodologies and approaches
  • Extensive project management and technical project delivery experience or diverse clients in the international development and consulting sectors.
  • Proven track record in business development/sales and marketing in a comparable professional environment is essential, including overseeing large, complex bid work and a proven ability in developing and embedding strategic and tactical methodologies, systems and processes at an organization level, acting as an agent for change.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including the ability to interpret and make recommendations/decisions based on data
  • Experience building the systems and processes required to successfully deliver on programs for USAID and other USG clients.
