Founded as a joint partnership by His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV and the Government of Canada, the Global Centre for Pluralism is an independent charitable organization based in Ottawa that works globally to advance more inclusive, just, and peaceful societies. Through research, education, and engagement, the Centre supports leaders, educators, and communities to practically apply pluralism to address some of today’s most pressing challenges—from conflict and polarization to systemic exclusion. Its programs include the Global Pluralism Award, the Global Pluralism Monitor, Education and Leadership for Pluralism, and initiatives supporting civil society, governments and peacemakers globally, helping to translate the values of respect and diversity into meaningful action and policy.
As Deputy Secretary General, you will report to the Secretary General and serve as a senior member of the leadership team, responsible for advancing the Centre’s global profile, influence, and resource base. You will shape and implement high-impact communications strategies and outreach initiatives that translate the Centre’s research and programming into compelling narratives, while strengthening its position as a leading voice on pluralism.
In this role, you will lead the development of a comprehensive communications and outreach strategy and cultivate strategic relationships with governments, international institutions, foundations, and civil society. You will oversee a talented Communications and Public Affairs team, fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and innovation in strategic communications and knowledge dissemination.
The ideal candidate brings creativity, discipline, and strategic acumen to a leadership role. With a strong background in pluralism, peacebuilding, democracy, or social justice, you have demonstrated success mobilizing institutional partnerships, engaging diverse audiences, and driving impact through communications. You have led teams with vision and empathy, and you bring an entrepreneurial mindset to advancing mission-driven work. You bring an established international network, language proficiency beyond English (French strongly preferred), and experience in both international and Canadian contexts. Your intercultural fluency and political acuity make you a trusted partner, leader, and representative of the Centre around the world.
