Job Description
Globesight is seeking to hire a dynamic individual as a Development and Climate Finance Lead to contribute to its advisory mandate with leading organisations in the global development and social sector. This is a full-time, remotely based role with the ideal candidate based in Europe, the Middle East, South Asia or Africa, with at least 5-7 years of directly relevant work experience.
We are looking for a unique profile with strong sectoral expertise and acumen towards strategic thinking, who is also a dynamic leader adept at engaging and developing relationships with multiple stakeholders from the private, public and social sectors. This position is an opportunity to apply and deepen their advisory, thought leadership and business development experience.
The Development and Climate Finance Lead will report directly to the Senior Management Team on all matters and will have exposure to high-level contacts and institutions in the social, private and public sector. They will be responsible for building and co-leading engagements with client and partner organizations, managing projects, and driving knowledge development, in particular on climate finance.
Responsibilities
- Identify and lead client engagements to build, grow and improve multi-stakeholder financing platforms for climate and other development issues in the Global South
- Drive and manage projects with organizations focused on development as well as climate finance
- Provide strategic, research, analytic and engagement support to our mandate of advising on innovative approaches across multiple sectors and clients
- Coordinate and collaborate across Globesight teams to ensure all project work reflect climate considerations
- Drive thought leadership and knowledge development in climate finance, climate and their impact across development areas in the Global South
- Represent Globesight at high-level meetings and conferences
- Other advisory and project oversight responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Master’s or other advanced degree from a leading and recognized university in the field of economics, development studies, public policy, international relations, sustainability or a related area
- Solid experience in driving and leading engagements in development finance, climate finance or sustainable development projects
- Proven track record in the development sector and knowledge of current development and climate issues
- Strong knowledge of MDBs, MFIs, IFIs, DFIs, innovative financing instruments, and their governance and decision-making processes
- Familiarity with social and sustainability trends of the Middle East, South Asia and Africa regions
- High levels of thought leadership, strategy, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Entrepreneurial drive, highly developed communication skills, ability to work independently and in teams
- Strong presentation, writing and data analysis skills
- Passion for development, sustainability and growth in the Global South
