Job Description

PURPOSE

The Director, Business Development, is IYF’s hunter, closer, and relationship-builder. They own the full business pre-sales business development cycle. From sourcing leads and moving qualified leads into active proposals and closed partnerships. They turn early connections into structured partnerships that deliver measurable funding and impact. Skilled in consultative sales, proposal leadership, and strategic negotiation, This hunter will bring clarity, discipline, and urgency to IYF’s revenue growth strategy. Their job is to be a leader and a quarterback to structure complex programs by partnering with regional experts, program specialists, and the executive team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • ·Build a net-new pipeline and go-to-market strategy within an assigned funder segment (corporate, foundation, public, or social).
  • Drive top-of-funnel prospecting and outreach in partnership with the Strategic BD and Prospecting teams.
  • Manage all active opportunities through the pipeline; lead qualification, discovery, proposal, and negotiation to close.
  • Collaborate with the Proposal Team, Technical Specialists, and Program leads to design winning solutions.
  • Develop deep understanding of funder priorities, decision processes, and business models to position IYF with precision.
  • Forecast opportunities and maintain accurate data in Salesforce; lead with transparency and accountability.
  • Partner with Program Directors (Account Managers) to ensure seamless handoff and ongoing stewardship post-close.
  • Represent IYF at key events, conferences, and roundtables to grow brand visibility and pipeline.
  • Contribute to pod strategy, quarterly business reviews, and cross-team learning to strengthen IYF’s overall GTM system.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience developing and closing complex, multi-stakeholder partnerships across corporate, foundation, public, or social impact funders in nonprofit or international settings.
  • Proven success taking opportunities from idea to signed agreement, including discovery, proposal design, negotiation, and relationship management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build innovative funding models or cross-sector initiatives that blend social impact with business or policy outcomes.
  • Skilled communicator with executive presence who can translate IYF’s mission and outcomes into compelling business cases and narratives across cultures.
  • Technologically fluent and future-focused, using AI, CRM systems, and data tools to research, personalize outreach, and inform partnership strategy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; preferred: proficiency in Spanish, French or Portuguese
