World Vision International (WVI) is a Christian humanitarian organization based in Monrovia, CA, with ministries throughout the world working to promote the well-being of all people – especially children. World Vision is seeking a Director of Christian Formation and Spiritual Nurture for our Christian Commitment Department.
The purpose of this position is to collaborate with Director of Christian Commitments Programs and the Vice President of Christian Commitments in providing strategic leadership to the development, understanding and practice of World Vision’s Christian commitments, especially as related to the Christian formation and spiritual nurture of World Vision staff.
This position is also strengthen staff capacity and leadership to integrate our Christian commitments in all that we as World Vision do, especially through personnel support, program orientation and resource development for staff spiritual enrichment.
Some of the key responsibilities for the success of this position are: · Develop resources and programs for the spiritual development of World Vision staff that ensure staff are continually growing in their ability to faithfully fulfill our entire mission to work among both the poor and the affluent as expressed in our Core Documents and Core Capabilities Frame. · Ensure that all staff is oriented to World Vision’s Core Documents and to our Christian commitments. · Develop resources and programs for the Christian formation and spiritual nurture of staff in specific program areas (relief, development, advocacy, etc.) · Assist in the development and implementation of Christian formation and other curriculum for the CC Coordinator Capacity-Building Program. · Collaborate with the Director of Prayer Mobilization to provide resources that deepen the prayer life of staff. · Initiate and oversee the content and production of the annual Partnership Bible Study. · Encourage a corporate spirituality that affects office climates; provide pastoral support and conflict resolution to offices and staff as needed; lead managers and all staff to create an ambience of transparency and support in the workplace.
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training · Proven organization-wide pastoral leadership and management experience (minimum of 8 years). · Requires a 4-year college degree and post-graduate studies in theology, biblical studies and/or Christian spirituality. · Wide international, cross-cultural and field experience; preference given to candidates from developing contexts. · Proven ability to cater ministry to very diverse peoples and contexts. · Extensive experience in writing Bible studies and spiritual formation resources for multi-cultural and trans-denominational groups. · Proven effectiveness in facilitating workshops and seminars. · This person must model a Biblical lifestyle through a personal Christian commitment, vibrant spirituality and Christ-centered life and work. · Basic knowledge in MS Word, Excel and Power Point. · Fluency in English required with a preference for additional fluency in Spanish or French. · Travel as required (up to 30%).
