Director of Global Strategy and Policy

Position Location: Washington, D.C.

OIC International’s mission is to build self-reliance and entrepreneurship through technical and vocational skills development. For 40 years OIC International has operated a global network of sustainable community-based training centers that drive vibrancy and independence in the workforce.

Responsibilities

OICI seeks a dynamic Director of Global Strategy and Policy to report directly to the President and CEO in a time of organizational transformation and renewal. The candidate must have experience in strategically monitoring and interpreting trends in international development. They will be involved in evaluating market size, competitor accomplishments and industry structures, and making recommendations to senior management to assist in the development of OICI’s goals and priorities. They are responsible for managing our engagement with McKinsey and Company in developing OICI’s strategic plan and ensuring implementation. They are additionally responsibly for creating operational plans for new innovative ventures of the organization at the direction of the President and CEO. The Director of Global Strategy and Policy will be responsible, as a member of the senior management team, for identifying and triaging business development and growth opportunities. They will also seek out partnership opportunities with external vendors and organizations.

In addition to the strategic responsibilities the Director will be responsible for ensuring OIC International remains a thought leader in training as it relates to workforce development, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. The Director will educate policy makers, corporate partners, donors, and government entities foreign and domestic on OIC International unique sustainable interventions in international development. The candidate must have experience in researching and identifying potential industry and government partners; initiating contact and meeting with prospective partners; and preparing policy and presentations.

Qualifications

Must have at least ten (10) years of strategy and policy experience as a congressional staff person, with an executive department or agency, and/or with a think tank. A BA/BS degree is required; and an MA/MS degree is preferred. Strong writing background required.

Candidate must work in collaboration and cooperation for the success of the team and the overall organization. Be capable of making sound decisions in the absence of detailed instructions. Demonstrate the ability to develop innovative and timely solutions to problems, and excels in multi-tasking.
