Functional responsibilities
Under the guidance and supervision of the senior Senior Admin. Associate , the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services for the transport of authorized personnel. The Driver has a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
Specific Responsibilities
Provides reliable and secure driving services by:
Driving vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel, materials and equipments;
Collecting and delivering mail, documents and other items;
Meeting official personnel at the airport and facilitating immigration and customs formalities as required.
Ensures proper use of vehicle through:
Accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs;
Provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
Ensures the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle by:
Checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tries, etc.;
Performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs;
Ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean at all times.
Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including:
Vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts;
Maintenance of accurate fuel logs.
Ensures that immediate steps as required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
Performs other related assignments as requested by supervisors
Monitoring and Progress Controls
Vehicle must be maintained clean at all times
Accident- and incident-free
Checking of maintenance and fuel logs on a regular basis
Final Product
To transport goods and personnel safely and in compliance with security and traffic rules from location to point of destination.
Driving condition target of vehicle achieved.
Quality of vehicle book data.
The incumbent is responsible to abide by security policies, administrative instructions, plans and procedures of the UN Security Management System and that of UNOPS.
Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education
Completion of secondary school or equivalent desirable;
Drivers training highly desirable.
Certificate in AV/B6 an asset.
Work Experience
Minimum of Two (2) years of work experience as a driver
Knowledge of driving rules and regulations is required.
Skills in minor vehicle repairs is an asset
Valid drivers license a must
Arabic language is required, Intermediate level in English language is requied.

Good knowledge of Kabul and the current condition of roads and highways, security and safety awareness; ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignments given.
