The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its EIB Global Directorate (GLO) – Partnerships for Impact Department (PFI) – Co-financing & Partnerships Division (COPAR) - Regional Blending Facilities Unit (RBF), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1^st September/October 2025)

Objective of the traineeship

You will be able to acquire practical knowledge about different mandates within the Co-financing & Partnerships Division by contributing to the development of grant applications for specific blending operations, as well as their monitoring and reporting, i.e. operations benefitting from EIB Global lending and from grant or concessional funding (such as technical assistance, investment grants or financial instruments) from the EC Regional Blending Facilities. You will have an opportunity to work in an international environment and have extensive contacts with internal and external stakeholders such as European Commission (EC), and colleagues in other International Financial Institutions (IFIs).

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Division, Head of Unit and more senior colleagues, you will actively participate in the Division’s core activities. Your main responsibilities will be:

• Contribute to drafting and reviewing grant applications forms for blending operations under the EC Regional Blending Facilities in line with EIB Global’s strategy and business needs;
• Contribute to monitoring, follow-up and reporting on EIB blending operations supported by grants under the EC Regional Blending Facilities;
• Contribute to the drafting of internal approval and briefing notes to the EIB’s services and governing bodies, drafting of presentations; help with document filing, data collection and research work;
• Help with filling data on blending operations in the internal management systems as well as systems of the EC.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

• Final year of studies or University degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Law, Political Science
• A first experience in the financial sector or public institution will be considered as an advantage.
• Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of French will be an asset but is not a must.
