Future Project: Technical Assistance to Support the Ministry of Health in Ethiopia
Position Type: Long Term Field Assignments, Full-Time

Summary of Project
Agriteam Canada and DAI are pursuing a tender for a three-year, EU-funded project, the Technical Assistance to Support the Ministry of Health and regions to manage the Social Determinants of Health for Gender Equality Program in Ethiopia. We are actively recruiting a Team Leader – Grant Management Expert. The overall objective of the project will be to support the Government of Ethiopia to improve health and nutrition of Ethiopian citizens with specific emphasis on improving health and nutrition of women and adolescent girls and children. The project is expected to commence in May 2020.
The specific objectives of this project is designed to build the capacity of the Regions and enable Ministry of Health/Health System Special Support directorate to coordinate and effectively manage the Regional Grants in achieving defined Social Determinants of Health program expected results:
- Improved access and quality of SRHR with emphasis on increased demand for and uptake of comprehensive family planning services; and identification, treatment and referral of victims of GBV and HTP.
- Improved access and quality of integrated nutrition services as well as dietary diversity for adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women and children < 5 years of age.
- Improved functionality and readiness of health facility to provide quality services with special emphasis on improving WASH and ensuring linkages with nutrition interventions.
- Prevention of GBV and HTPs – promotion for change of social norms and mind-sets, attitudes and beliefs, and improved access to and use of support services for GBV victims/survivors.
Key Requirements:
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics or public health or business management, development studies or related fields from recognized university.
Experience:
- Experience in managing projects funded by European Commission using EDF procedure.
- 15 years of professional experience in managing multi-sectoral programme interventions in developing countries, preferably in Africa.
- 3 years of experience working as Team Leader providing technical assistance in designing and managing grant proposal development for multi-sectoral interventions, preferably in developing country context.
- Experience as Team Leader, in supporting and advising government ministries and/or sub-national authorities/departments.
- Demonstrated experience in grant financial management and coordination in a context of multi-sectoral implementation arrangements.
- Experience in coordinating capacity development support programmes to sub-national authorities and/or departments.
- Proven experience of supporting sector wide programme in strategic advisory position.
Skills:
- Proven project/grant management.
- Organization skills including mentoring and coaching.
- Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Proficiency in English (oral and written).
- Prior work experience in Ethiopia will be an asset.
